The Ilpurla Trail is a new walking and cultural trek, set in the Homelands of the Western Arrernte people. The trail passes from Tnorala [or Gosses Crater] to Palm Valley across the incredible Krickhauff Ranges and through some of the most stunning and remote country in Central Australia. You will see no one else on the trail except your guides and fellow walkers.
The Ilpurla Trail is a magnificent walking and cultural trek through the sacred country of the Western Arrernte people. The trail is approximately 60 kilometres long from the community of Ipolera to Palm Valley, crossing some of Central Australia's most stunning landscape.
The Ilpurla Trail is operated by Into the Blue Creative Walks with it's trained guides and leaders. All cultural interactions on the trail and in camp are provided by the Ilpurla Guides from the local community. The Western Arrentre guides are walking on their own country and know every aspect intimately.

The Ilpurla Trail looks to develop young guides over a generation. The hope of the program is that to be an Ilpurla Guide is a worthwhile aspiration for the young people of Hermannsburg. |
The Ilpurla Trail takes you into “another world”, a place where you are invited to be quiet, to listen and to learn. It is country of deep significance and it is in that spirit that you are invited to enter, to enter with a pilgrim’s heart.
